MACHAKOS UNIVERSITY TO REPRESENT KENYA IN HUAWEI ICT COMPETITION

Machakos University will represent Kenya in the global final of the Huawei ICT Competition under network track.  The Huawei ICT Competition is a competitive ICT talent exchange event developed by Huawei Technologies for institutions of higher education globally within the Huawei ICT Academy program.

It brings together the industry ecosystem partners to promote the cultivation, growth, and employment of young ICT talents from universities, colleges and tertiary institutions thereby aiding the ICT talent ecosystem thrive. The Huawei ICT Competition Kenya, kicked-off last year with forty (40) universities and colleges with over three thousand (3,000+) students participating in the event.

The University’s team, comprising of Brian Kipkoech, Joshua Akal and Patrick Maingi, students taking BSC Telecommunication and IT Students, emerged tops after beating representatives from fifteen (15) other countries which include Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, Tanzania, Mozambique, Ghana, Angola, Botswana, Mauritius, Zambia, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Eswatini, and Uganda in the Sub-Saharan Africa region. The team proceeded to the finals will represent Kenya in the Global Final competition in May 2022. This competition has not only created winners but has also opened up job opportunities for Machakos University students.
