Machakos University Participates in Zambezi Hospital Cancer Walk

On Saturday, 22nd February 2025, Machakos University made a significant contribution to raising awareness about cancer by participating in the Zambezi Cancer Walk organized by Zambezi Hospital at Machakos Town. The university was proudly represented by a dedicated group of 20 Scouts, their patron, and two staff members, all coming together to support the vital cause in the fight against cancer.

The Zambezi Cancer Walk, an annual event drawing participants from various Secondary and Primary Schools, organizations and community groups served as an essential platform for raising awareness on various aspects of cancer care. During the walk, key discussions focused on the causes of cancer, the importance of early screening, as well as fundamental strategies for the care and support of cancer patients.

Machakos University’s participation was part of a broader commitment to social responsibility and health awareness. The members of the university community engaged in meaningful dialogue with other participants and experts and showed unwavering support for those experiencing the challenges of cancer. As part of the event, the participants were also given informative materials and resources to share with the community, reinforcing the message that early detection is a key factor in the battle against cancer.

By showing up as a unified team, Machakos University reaffirmed its dedication to promoting not just academic excellence, but also the well-being of the community at large. Through participation in public health initiatives like the Zambezi Cancer Walk, the university continues to foster a culture of health, awareness, and progress, advancing the conversation on cancer prevention and nurturing a supportive environment for all.
